Can You Delete PlayStation Trophies? What's Actually Possible

Someone launched a game on your account. Or you tried something you hated and now there is a 2% list sitting on your profile forever. The question comes up constantly, and the answer is narrower than most people hope.

Short answer: you cannot delete a trophy you have earned. You can delete an entire trophy list, but only while it sits at 0% — meaning no trophies earned from it at all.

Why earned trophies cannot be removed

Trophies are stored server-side against your PSN account, not in the game or on the console. That is the same design that lets you delete a game without losing anything and sign in on a friend's console to see your full profile.

The trade-off is that the record is not yours to edit. There is no user-facing tool, no support request, and no console menu that removes an earned trophy. The only removals that happen are Sony's own, when illegitimately obtained trophies are stripped from an account.

The one thing you can delete: a 0% list

If a game appears on your profile and you have earned nothing from it, you can remove the list entirely. It disappears from your profile as though you never launched the game.

The 0% condition is absolute. A single bronze — including the one many games hand out during the opening minutes — makes the list permanent.

On PS5: open your Game Library or profile, find the game's trophy list, press the Options button, and choose the delete option. It only appears for eligible lists, so if you cannot see it, the list is not at 0%.

On PS4: open the Trophies application, highlight the game, press Options, and select the delete option under the same rule.

Menu wording shifts between firmware versions, but the rule behind it has not changed: 0% only.

What deleting does not do

Deleting the game does not delete the trophies. Uninstalling frees up storage and nothing else. Your earned trophies stay on your account, and reinstalling shows the same progress.

Deleting a list at 0% does not block you later. Play the game again and the list comes back, empty, as if it were new.

Hiding is not the same as deleting, and PSN does not offer per-game hiding. Your privacy settings control who can see your trophies overall — everyone, friends only, or nobody — but you cannot show most of your profile while concealing one embarrassing list.

If someone else earned trophies on your account

This is the common real scenario, and it has no clean fix. Trophies earned by a friend, a sibling, or a child on your account are indistinguishable from ones you earned yourself, and if the list is above 0%, it stays.

Prevention is the only real answer:

• Give other people their own account. A second local user on the same console costs nothing, and PlayStation's game-sharing features mean they can usually still play your library.
• Set a passcode on your console profile so your account is not one button press away.
• Watch the family/child accounts — they sit on the same console and are easy to bypass if nobody set a passcode.

Starting over

If a profile is genuinely unsalvageable and a clean trophy record matters to you, the only path is a new PSN account. This is a heavier decision than it sounds, so weigh it properly.

You would keep: nothing on the old account transfers. Trophies, friends, and purchases are all account-bound. Games bought digitally stay licensed to the old account, though console sharing settings often let a second account on the same machine play them.

You would lose: your entire trophy history, your level, and your standing on any leaderboard. Years of collection do not move.

For most people the honest answer is that a few unwanted lists matter far less than they feel like they do. A profile with one 3% list and two hundred completed games reads as a profile of someone who plays games — which is what it is.
