Update, 22 September 2026: Early access for Deluxe and Ultimate owners began on 17 September, ahead of the full launch on 22 September. The buying advice below has been updated now that the head start is under way.
Dune: Awakening, Funcom's open-world survival game, arrives on PS5 on 22 September after launching on PC in June 2025. Buyers of the two premium editions got in five days earlier, on 17 September.
The console launch is not a straight port. It brings a solo mode, wraps up the game's narrative and adds tougher difficulty options.
The three editions
| Edition | Price | Early access | On disc? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $49.99 | No — plays 22 September | Yes |
| Deluxe | $69.99 | Yes — 17 September | No |
| Ultimate | $89.99 | Yes — 17 September | No |
What the extra money buys
Standard ($49.99) — the base game only. It is the only edition available on disc. The physical version includes no season pass and no head start, but preorders get two limited-time extras: the Terrarium of Muad'Dib, a placeable base decoration, and a global colour swatch.
Deluxe ($69.99) — the five-day head start, plus four DLC packs (Wildlife of Arrakis, Lost Harvest, Raiders of the Broken Lands, The Water Wars) and the Sardaukar Bator Armor.
Ultimate ($89.99) — everything in Deluxe, plus a set of cosmetics: the Dusk Rider sandbike swatch, Blue Dasher ornithopter swatch, Caladan Palace building set and the Stillsuit from the 2021 Dune film, along with a digital artbook and 90 minutes of soundtrack.
Edition contents can change close to launch — confirm on the PlayStation Store listing before you buy.
The Game Pass factor
On Xbox, Dune: Awakening joins Game Pass on day one. On PS5, there is no subscription route — you buy it.
That is not a reason to skip it on PlayStation, but it does change the value maths slightly: PS5 players are paying for the privilege of the same launch Xbox subscribers get included.
PS5 Pro
Funcom's PS5 Pro trailer targets dynamic 4K at 60fps. Cross-play with other platforms is planned for after launch, not at launch.
Which should you buy?
- Want a disc, or just want to play? Standard at $49.99. The five-day head start is the main thing you are giving up.
- Weighing Deluxe? The early-access head start is already under way, so buying it now mostly gets you the four DLC packs and the Sardaukar Bator Armor for $20 more. Worth it only if you know you want those.
- Ultimate at $89.99 is cosmetics, an artbook and a soundtrack for another $20. Only for people who already know they love Dune.
