Tokyo Game Show 2026 opens on 17 September at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, for a record five days. PlayStation is there with a booth for the third year running.
The dates
- 17–18 September — Business Days, for industry attendees.
- 19–21 September — Public Days.
It is TGS's 30th anniversary, with 759 exhibitors — 484 from Japan and 275 international.
What is playable at the PlayStation booth
Four games you can actually get hands-on with:
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation — out 8 April 2027
- Marvel's Wolverine — out now
- Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance — the 2027 expansion
- Ace Combat 8
The GTA 6 theater — and what it is not
The attention-grabber is a Grand Theft Auto VI theater inside the PlayStation booth: a 300-inch screen with Sony's floor haptics rumbling along to the footage. Attendees who watch the whole thing get a co-branded GTA 6 and PlayStation T-shirt.
Here is the part that matters before anyone books a flight: according to GTA BOOM, the 30-minute loop is the same Extended Look released in late August. It is not new footage. There is also no separate Rockstar or Take-Two booth at the show.
So if you have seen the Extended Look, TGS will not show you anything new about GTA 6. It will show it to you very, very large.
Will anything new be announced?
Sony has said it will present four upcoming PS5 titles from PlayStation Studios and other publishers. Beyond the playable list above, PlayStation has not committed to any new reveals, and this is not a State of Play — that happened on 3 September.
Expect Japanese publishers, rather than Sony, to supply most of the week's actual news. Capcom, Konami, Bandai Namco, Sega and Square Enix are all exhibiting.
If you want what is on show
- GTA 6 launches 19 November. The limited-edition DualSense controllers are $84.99 and back in stock at several retailers.
- Marvel's Wolverine is $69.99, out now.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation preorders are open for its 8 April 2027 release.
Drafted 16 September 2026.
